An experienced warrior tutors a newbie mage
Before we begin let's list some important resources for newbies:
Newbie helpers (who helper) are people who are very keen to help newbies
Your newbie guide can do a lot for you (use the command "guide")
The mentor channel is an excellent place to ask for help
You can message any wizard that is online for help
It's more fun when monsters die, but it's not so bad if your character dies. As a newbie you will be able to use the command "pray" and quickly get back to the action.
Even after you've leveled up a bit and this is no longer available to you it is pretty easy to navigate to a shrine where you can get helped by another player.
Your newbie guide is a powerful ally. You can summon a guide with the command "guide".
If you use the command "ask guide about list" it will give you a list of things that you can ask it about and how much they will cost you.
Here are the topics you can ask about:
newbies - gives you a list of other newbies on the same world as you
light / dark - the guide will help you to make the room brighter or darker so that you can see
food - the guide will create some food for you to eat
heal - the guide will heal some of your missing hitpoints
advguild - teleport to an adventurer's guild on the current planet where you can gain adventuring levels
guild - teleport to your primary guild hall where you can train your skills and advance your guild level
pub - teleport you to a pub where you can find out about quests (and also buy food or drink)
recall - teleport you back to your starting location
newbie area - teleport you to an area on the current planet where you are likely to find monsters suitable for your level
There are a lot of areas that are designed for newbies and each planet has a selection of them.
The quickest way to find them is by summoning a guide and asking them about "newbie area".
If you find it is is too difficult for you then just ask them about "newbie area" again and they'll take you to another random one.
Here is a list of areas and the suggested level for a fighter class hero. If your build is more squishy then you might need to target lower level areas.
Level 20 - 25: Azalin's Hunting Lodge (G), Artists Retreat (G), Quarry (G), Barrow Downs (E)
Level 25 - 30: Cheval Vapeur (G), Grand Hotel of Keystone (E), Manor of House Montfort (E)
Level 30 - 40: Elysium (G), Uruk Camp (E), Manor of House Kingsley (E), Village of Mosyevir

A human mage wisely deposits their gold in the bank
The easiest way to acquire gold is by killing monsters. There are other methods, such as trading on the sales channel or selling services.
Not every guild has skills or spells that can be sold as a service. Merchants are commonly associated with selling services like armour repairs and resizing. Alchemists are often paid to enchant gear with spells.
Some monsters have gear that is high in demand. As you level up and join parties you will have the chance to kill these boss level monsters. Typically parties distribute the loot randomly by rolling dice. If your roll is highest you have the chance to walk away with gear that you can sell for millions of gold pieces.
Just as in the real world gold coins weigh something. You should deposit your spare cash into the bank in town. You won't earn any interest from it, but it's perfectly safe in there. Banking your gold protects it from accidental loss and lightens the load you're carrying.
You will earn experience by:
Exploring rooms in cities or dungeons
Killing monsters
You'll be surprised by how much experience you can earn by even just exploring the main cities of each planet. Don't under-estimate the value of exploring.
💡Exploring is particularly important for bards
We cover levelling and improving skills in more detail in another part of this guide (see "Progression").
Here are some commands that will help you to manage your inventory:
inventory (also "inv" or just "i") - list what you are carrying in your backback
eq - show what equipment you are wearing
slots - show what armor slots you have available
keep - toggle whether an item is protected from being dropped or sold
drop - drop an item on the ground (if you are flying in mid-air it will fall down to the room below you)
get - pick up an item from the ground
When you use the inventory command (or one of its shortcuts) you will be told the total weight you are carrying and the maximum that you may carry. If you are carrying more than your maximum weight your muscles will give out and you will drop everything in your backpack.
Remember that your gold and other coins have weight. Visit a bank and deposit them so that you can carry more loot.
